Privacy Policy
Last updated: [LAST_UPDATED]
Align Home ("Align Home", "we", "us") is operated by [COMPANY]. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Align Home web and mobile applications, why we collect it, how it is stored and shared, and the controls you have over it. It is maintained by [COMPANY]and is not an independent certification.
1. Information you provide
- Account: email address and password (passwords are never stored in plain text; they are managed by our authentication provider).
- Household profile: household name, the names, roles, and avatars of family members you add.
- Household content: events, tasks, grocery items, finance entries, notes, and other content you create inside the app.
- Support requests: any information you send us by email or in-app feedback.
2. Information collected automatically
- Authentication metadata: sign-in timestamps and the IP address of the request, used to secure your account.
- Device & diagnostic data: browser type, operating system, and crash/error reports needed to keep the app working.
We do not run third-party advertising trackers and we do not sell personal information.
3. Google account data (Gmail & Calendar)
If you choose to connect Google Calendar or Gmail, Align Home requests the minimum scopes needed for the feature you enabled. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions or by disconnecting the integration inside Align Home.
Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use disclosure. Align Home's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- Google user data is used only to provide and improve the features you enabled (showing your calendar events alongside household plans, and surfacing household-relevant messages such as school, sports, and appointment notices from your inbox).
- We do not use Google user data for advertising.
- We do not sell Google user data or share it with third parties for unrelated purposes.
- We do not allow humans to read your Google user data except (a) with your explicit consent, (b) to comply with applicable law, (c) for security investigations such as abuse or fraud, or (d) when the data has been aggregated and anonymized.
4. How we use information
- To operate Align Home and the features you enable.
- To authenticate you, secure your account, and prevent abuse.
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To send service emails (security alerts, important changes). We do not send marketing emails without your opt-in.
5. Storage and processors
Household data is stored on our managed cloud infrastructure with row-level security so that only members of your household can read it. We use the following processors to operate the service:
- Hosting & database — managed Postgres and edge hosting providers used to run the app and store household data.
- Authentication — our authentication provider, used to sign you in and manage sessions.
- Google — only when you connect Gmail or Calendar.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information only with the processors listed above (under contract), with other members of your household (that is the point of the app), and where required by law.
7. Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see section 9) we remove your account and household-scoped data. Backups containing residual copies are rotated out within 30 days. Limited records may be retained where required by law (for example, tax or fraud-prevention records).
8. Children
Align Home is designed for adults to organize a household. Adult account holders may add child profiles to their household. Child profiles are managed by the parent or guardian and are not independent accounts. We do not knowingly create independent accounts for children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has created an independent account, contact us at [SUPPORT_EMAIL] and we will remove it.
9. Your rights and account deletion
You can view, edit, and export your household content from inside the app. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Align Home → Account → Delete account. If you own the household, deletion removes the household and all data for every member; if you are a member, deletion removes you from the household and deletes your personal account.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may also have the right to access, correct, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, email [SUPPORT_EMAIL].
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our infrastructure providers. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel of [COMPANY]. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe you've found a vulnerability, please email [SUPPORT_EMAIL].
11. International transfers
[COMPANY] is based in [JURISDICTION]. If you use Align Home from another country, your information may be processed in [JURISDICTION]or in the regions where our processors operate.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update the "Last updated" date above when this policy changes. Material changes will be announced inside the app or by email before they take effect.
13. Contact
